Australia Region Makes History
Clayton Campbell hopes every outing could go as well as Tuesday, as Campbell struck out 14 batters to carry Australia to a 2-1 victory over Caribbean at Volunteer Stadium in six innings.

Gedionne Marlin did his best to prevent defeat.

Marlin was hot from the plate for Caribbean. Marlin went 1-3. He doubled in the fourth inning.

Marlin had an impressive outing against Australia's lineup. Marlin gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his 1 2/3 innings of work.

Australia held off Caribbean, as Caribbean was unable to overcome a two-run fifth inning deficit.

Caribbean scored one run in the sixth on. Still, Caribbean couldn't draw even.

Danchelo Valentina ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just 4 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out nine, and allowed two runs.

Australia stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring one run on an RBI single by Mathew Clements.
