Huskies Women’s Basketball Announces Six Newcomers For Upcoming 2016-17 Season

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – First-year head coach Alison Tagliaferri is pleased to announce that six newcomers will be joining the Bloomsburg University women's basketball roster for the upcoming 2016-17 season.

The six newcomers consist of four freshmen and two transfers and will join seven returning veterans for what will be a very young team. In fact, the roster will feature only two seniors – Alex Ross(Lancaster/Manheim Township) and Morgan Klunk (Felton/York Catholic) – and one junior in transfer Caitlin Conroy.

Conroy, a native of Oakhurst, New Jersey, comes to Bloomsburg after one season at Brookdale Community College. Last season, Conroy averaged 6.7 points and grabbed 4.8 rebounds per game. She also led the team with 38 blocks. Prior to joining Brookdale Community College, Conroy was at the University of the Sciences but missed her entire freshman season due to an injury.

Conroy played her high school basketball at Red Bank Catholic where she was a three-year letterwinner. She helped the team to the 2012-13 NJSIAA State Championship with a 29-2 overall record. She served as team captain during her senior season (2013-14).

The other transfer is redshirt freshman Leah Myers, who comes to Bloomsburg, along with Tagliaferri, from Mansfield University where she sat out her freshman season.

Myers, who hails from York, Pennsylvania, was a two-time First Team All-County selection and a two-time Second Team All-County honoree during her time at Eastern York High School. She also played soccer and was a two-time First Team All-County member.

The four freshmen joining this year's squad will be Meghan Corridoni, Ciara Forde, Taylor Montana, and Lauren Oeth.

Corridoni, a native of Exeter, Pennsylvania, played at Holy Redeemer High School where she was a two-year varsity letterwinner. She was named the team's Most Improved Player as a junior and helped her team to the District Championship as a senior. She was also named the "She Got Game" Classic Most Valuable Player.

Corridoni was also a member of the National Honor Society, was an Honor Roll member for four years, and earned the school's Bishop Award.

Forde comes to Bloomsburg from Glenmoore, Pennsylvania, where she had a decorated career at Bishop Shanahan High School. She was a three-time All-Ches-Mont League First Team selection and was a two-time Daily Local News First Team All-Area honoree. She was a two-time team captain and led Bishop Shanahan in scoring three years in a row.

Forde led Bishop Shahanan to the program's first-ever state tournament berth in 2013-14 and back-to-back league championships in 2014-15 and 2015-16. She also played in the All-City Classic All-Star Game as a sophomore.

Montana, a native of Berwick, Pennsylvania, was a four-year starter for the Bulldogs. She was a two-time First Team All-Conference selection and was a Third Team All-Conference member as a freshman. In addition to being a First Team All-Conference selection as a senior, she also earned the Locker Room Award, the Outstanding Senior Award, and was the Most Valuable Player of the WVC Senior All-Star Game. As a freshman, Montana grabbed the Outstanding Freshman Award.

Montana was also a two-year Honor Roll student and won the Salem Elementary Scholarship Award.

The final freshman, Oeth joins the roster from Doylestown, Pennsylvania where she enjoyed a fine career at Germantown Academy. She was a Second Team All-Conference selection in 2014-15 and was named to the All-Intelligencer Team. She also was named to the 2014 All-Tournament Team for the U.S. Junior Nationals in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Oeth also won the team's Defensive Most Valuable Player Award as a junior and as a senior.

Oeth also played water polo at Germantown Academy and was a First Team All-Conference selection and was team captain.

The Huskies finished the 2015-16 campaign with a 13-14 overall record and a 10-12 mark in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division standings.
