Mexico Region Holds Off Europe-Africa
An outstanding effort by Gael Isaac Cortez carried Mexico to a 12-7 win in six innings over Europe-Africa on Saturday at Volunteer Stadium.

Isaac Cortez rocked Europe-Africa with two home runs. Isaac Cortez went 2-3 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Isaac Cortez homered in the third and sixth innings.

Jose Angel Leal pitched lights out for Mexico. Europe-Africa managed just two hits off of Angel Leal, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his 2 2/3 innings of work.

Europe-Africa was hurt by a number of miscues in the field. Europe-Africa committed three errors which led to five unearned runs for Mexico.

RESULTS: Little League Baseball® World Series

Samuele Gamberini boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace Europe-Africa. He singled in the first, fourth, and sixth innings.

Isaac Cortez got the win for Mexico. He allowed one run over 1 2/3 innings. He struck out three, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Tommaso Adorni was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed two runs.

The lead stayed with Mexico after the second, when it scored one run on.

Mexico added two more runs in the top of the fourth. Fabian Alejandro Mar's triple got things going, plating Patricio Juarez.

One run in the bottom of the fourth helped Europe-Africa close its deficit to 4-1. An error gave Europe-Africa life. Isaac Cortez ended the inning by getting Federico Tiburtini to ground out.

Mexico tacked on another eight runs in the sixth. The inning got off to a hot start when Isaac Cortez homered, scoring Alejandro Mar. That was followed up by Victor Juarez's triple, bringing home Luis Lauro Nuncio.

Six runs in the bottom of the sixth helped Europe-Africa close its deficit to 12-7. An error, an RBI double by Gabriele Persici, a groundout by Tiburtini, a two-run error, and an error triggered Europe-Africa's comeback. Milton Gonzalez ended the game by getting Oussema Bouraoui to fly out.
