SPORTS - Women's Lacrosse Players Honored for Academics

BLOOMSBURG—Three Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse players, Abbey Burnett (Frederick, Md./Walkersville), Julia Stauffer (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico) and Andie Turner (St. James, N.Y./Smithtown East), were named to the IWLCA (Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association) 2016 Zag Sports Division II Academic Honor Roll.

In addition, the women's lacrosse team as a whole was recognized as an IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad for posting a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the year.

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll student-athletes had to be at least a junior and have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.50 of better.

Burnett, an Early Childhood Education/Deaf Education major, played in 15 games in goal, starting 11, and posted a goals against average of 13.03 with a saves percentage of .395.

Stauffer, a Speech Pathology and Audiology major, started in 15 games as a defender for the Huskies recording 27 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers.

Turner, a Speech Pathology and Audiology major saw action in 13 contests and earned 11 starts as part of the defensive unit. She collected 21 ground balls and caused 11 turnovers during the season.
