Warriors fifth in preseason coaches poll

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College volleyball team has been selected to finish fifth in the MAC Commonwealth Preseason Coaches Poll, the conference office in Annville, Pa., announced on Tuesday, Aug. 23.

Four-time defending conference champions, Stevenson (59), were the favorites to repeat, while Messiah (55) and Lebanon Valley (53) were close behind. Widener (43) also finished ahead of Lycoming (30), which is predeicted to return to the MAC Commonwealth Tournament for the fifth time in the last six years.

Hood (29), Arcadia (24), Alvernia (22) and Albright (9) round out the poll.

The Lycoming volleyball team finished 17-14 overall in 2015, posting the squad's third straight winning season. Junior Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) heads as a set of five returning starters, as the setter earned Second Team All-MAC Commonwealth and Academic All-MAC honors as a sophomore.

The Warriors open the 2016 season on Thursday, Sept. 1, when they head to Scranton for a 7 p.m. match.
