Misericordia Football - Cougars Falls at Del Val

Box Score The Misericordia University football team found itself behind early. Once again, the Cougars weren't able to recover as Delaware Valley defeated MU, 49-7, Friday night in Doylestown.

The Aggies returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and opened a 28-0 at the end of first quarter.

Del Val scored twice in the second quarter to take a 28-0 halftime lead.

The Cougars got on the board in the third period and Del Val added a TD in the fourth quarter to improve to 2-0.

Colton Pyne had six catches for 58 yards and Ryan Kurtz ran for 67 yards on 15 carries to lead the Cougars.

Clayton Vleck had 20 yards rushing on eight carries, including a touchdown.

The Cougars took the second half kickoff and marched 69 yards on 13 plays for their only score.

Vleck capped off the 7:27 drive with a one-yard plunge.

After Jared Harris returned the kick 20 yards to the 31, Kurtz picked up five yards on first down and a Del Val penalty gave the Cougars a first down.

Mark McMaster had a seven-yard catch and Leap gained three yards before recovering his own fumble for a first down in Del Val territory.

Kurtz broke a 14-yard run and Leap followed with a nine-yard gain to the Aggies 24.

Vleck picked up 11 yards on and third-and-one and a DVU penalty on first down moved the ball to the eight.

Kurtz gave the Cougars a first-and-goal at the three and Vleck finished the drive.

Harris and Mike Becke both had six tackles to lead the MU defense while Tyler Collins and Stephen Cushing both had five stops.

MU's Pat Newins punted seven times with a 43.7 yard average and had three kicks of more than 50 yards.

Misericordia will visit Wilkes, Saturday at 1:00.
