WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – After helping the Lycoming College men’s soccer team to a pair of wins, sophomore Sainclair Tueno (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) has earned his first career MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week award, the conference office in Annville, Pa., announced on Monday, Sept. 26.

Tueno, the Warriors’ center back, was impressive throughout Lycoming’s 2-1 win over Frostburg State and 1-0 win over Case Western Reserve. A part of a defensive corps that allowed just 10 shots in the two games and only a penalty kick goal, Tueno cleared the ball out of many dangerous situations during the week.

While allowing Case to take just two shots on goal, Tueno pushed forward offensively, taking three shots by himself.

Tueno has played three straight complete games and has been off the field for just 12 minutes during the Warriors’ current four-game winning streak.

This is his second honor from the MAC Commonwealth, as he was also named the conference player of the week after earning the MAC Commonwealth Tournament MVP award in 2015. He is the second Warrior to earn the defensive player of the week award this year, joining junior Kyle Thomas (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright), who earned the award on Sept. 19.

The Warriors (5-2-2 overall), who are ranked seventh in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region poll, get back on the field on Wednesday, Sept. 28, when they head to Misericordia for a 7 p.m. non-conference game.
