James V. Brown Library participates in 2017 ‘Raise the Region’ fundraiser

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St., is again participating in the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania’s Raise the Region fundraiser.

Raise the Region is an online event to help the communities of Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union counties support local nonprofit organizations’ fundraising efforts. In partnership with Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships, the 30-hour fundraising event begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, and continues through 11:59 p.m. Thursday, March 9.

All gifts are tax-deductible and help the library meet its strategic goals to champion the love of reading, open new doors to lifelong learning, provide a haven to those who seek and ensure the preservation of public library services for future generations.

The library, which was founded in June 1907, assists more than 225,000 patrons who come through its doors annually and online at for access to free materials, computers, classes, exhibits and programming for children, tweens, teens and adults.

All gifts must be made by credit or debit card at during the timeframe to be eligible. The minimum accepted gift is $25. All donations will be granted for unrestricted use by the library.

“Raise the Region is a unique, online giving event that provides an opportunity for people who care about their community to come together and raise as much money as possible for local nonprofits in 30 hours,” said Robin Glossner, development director at the library. “By donating to the James V. Brown Library, you can help us continue to offer free services and programming for people of all ages in our community.”
