Crosscutters Blow Out Batavia In Sweep

The Williamsport Crosscutters blew out Batavia 9-1 on Friday.

The Cutters scored four runs in the seventh inning. The big inning was thanks to a double by Cole Stobbe and a double by Jake Scheiner.

Andrew Brown earned the win for Crosscutters. He tossed five innings, surrendering zero runs, two hits, and striking out five. Two relievers helped Crosscutters close out the victory. Connor Brogdon threw two and a third innings.

Crosscutters had 13 hits in the game. Scheiner, Adam Haseley, Stobbe, and Gregori Riveroeach collected multiple hits for Crosscutters. Scheiner led Crosscutters with three hits in four at bats.
Batavia collected seven hits. Matt Brooks and Johnny Santos each collected multiple hits for Batavia.

Offense Explodes In Sweep
Game Highlights: June 30, 2017 – The Williamsport Crosscutters exploded for a season-high 13 hits, leading to a season-high tying nine runs as they complete the three-game sweep of the Batavia Muckdogs.

2017 Phillies 1st Round pick Adam Haseley collected a pair of singles, going 2 for 5 in his Crosscutters debut.

Cole Stobbe collected three RBI, finishing 2 for 4 with a double. He raised his RBI total to a clubhouse-leading nine.

Jake Scheiner finished the night 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI. Gregori Rivero finished the night 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI.

Andrew Brown tossed 5 shutout innings en route to his first win in a Crosscutters uniform. Brown allowed one hit, walked two and struck out five.

All nine Crosscutters batters reached base in one form or fashion, with seven of the nine scoring at least one run. The nine runs are the most scored by Williamsport since their 9-2 win over State College on Opening Night.

The sweep is the first of the season for Williamsport, giving the Cutters 15 straight wins against Batavia dating back to the start of the 2016 season. The four-game winning streak is the longest for Williamsport this season and the longest current win streak in the New York-Penn League.
