Cutters Suffer Double Trouble Against Spikes

State College hits off the wall!

The Williamsport Crosscutters offense struggled for consistency as they were swept by the State College Spikes in a doubleheader, falling 9-3 and 3-1.

Jhailyn Ortiz highlighted the Cutters offense in the 1st game, going 2 for 3 with a two-run triple, giving him his 16th and 17th RBI of the season, giving him the team lead and at the time, a tie for the league lead.


Colby Fitch highlighted the Cutters offense in the 2nd game, finishing the night 2 for 3 with a pair of singles before being replaced for a pinch runner in the bottom of the 7th inning,

In game two, the Cutters tied the game in the bottom of the 7th, and had the bases loaded with one out, only to see the next two batters ground into outs and strand the bases loaded.

Julian Garcia had his shortest, non-weather related, outing of the season, going 2.0 innings, allowing five runs, three earned on five hits and two walks. He struck out just two in the loss.

Luis Carrasco was solid in the 2nd game, allowing just 1 run over six innings of work. He worked to contact, getting 12 ground ball outs. Carrasco did not factor into the decision, but lowered his ERA to 1.80 for the season.
