Scrappers Unload on Cutters in 12-2 Decision

Game Highlights: July 28, 2017 – The Crosscutters allowed a season-high 12 runs in their 12-2 loss to the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, seeing their current losing streak hit three straight.

Cutters starter Spencer Howard allowed four runs over two innings of work. Allowing four hits and a pair of walks as he suffered his first loss of the season. Jhon Nunez allowed three runs over an inning of work. Allowing four base hits and a walk in the process. Orestes


Melendez was roughed up, allowing five runs on four hits in an inning and a third.

Connor Seabold tossed a pair of perfect innings of relief, retiring all six batters that he faced. Seabold picked up a pair of strikeouts along the way. Seabold has now worked eight scoreless over four professional appearances. Jhailyn Ortiz highlighted the offense, finishing the night 2 for 3 with his his 6th home run of the season, which plated his 21st RBI of the year. His 6th home run moves him into a tie for the clunhouse lead with Cole Stobbe, while his 21 RBI lead the team.

Since the Cutters scored their season-high 12 runs, they have gone 0-3 and have totaled just four runs in that span.
