Baseball - Late Rally Not Enough For Sliding Cutters

Game Highlights: August 16th, 2017 – The Crosscutters threatened late, but saw their 9th inning rally fall short, as they fell 5-1 to the Auburn Doubledays to open the road trip.

Andrew Brown took the loss, allowing five runs, four earned, on nine hits and three walks over 3.2 innings. Brown struggled with command, striking out one.


Greg Pickett finished the night with two hits, including a double to spark the 9th inning effort. Jhailyn Ortiz finished the night with two hits, both singles.

Cole Stobbe recorded his 19th RBI of the season on a single in the 9th inning. It was his first RBI since August 1st and his first hit since August 8th. Orestes Melendez tossed 2.2 innings of shutout relief for Williamsport, inheriting the bases loaded and not allowing a run to score. Melendez scattered two hits and struck out five, but no runs in the outing.

Jhon Nunez struck out the side in the bottom of the 8th inning, working around a single in the process. Nunez did not allow run in his inning of relief.
