Baseball - Strong Start Ends In Heartbreak for Cutters

Game Highlights: August 8, 2017 – New York-Penn League All Star Kyle Young was dominant in front of friends and family, but Staten Island spoiled the party with a 3-2 walk-off win. Young retired the first 14 batters that he faced, and held the Yankees without a hit for the first five innings. Young left the game with runners on 1st and 2nd, having allowed just two hits and striking out seven, leaving with a 2-0 lead.

Connor Brogdon allowed a two-out hit that allowed a pair of runs to score, tying the game. Both runs were charged to Young, while Brogdon was charged with his first blown save. Zach Warren took the loss, despite Damon Jones allowing the game-winning hit, the run that scored belonged to Warren as he suffered his second loss of the season.

Greg Pickett, who was one of five to be named to the NYPL All Star game earlier today, hit his 3rd home run of the season in the 6th inning, to extend the Cutters lead at the time to 2-0. All three of Pickett’s home runs have come on the road, as he now has 15 RBI.

Joining Young and Pickett on the NYPL All Star team from Williamsport include Randy Alcantara, Luis Ramirez and Jhailyn Ortiz.
