Cutters Connor Brogdon Aides Sweep

Game Highlights: August 24th, 2017 - Connor Brogdon continued a series of good pitching, helping the Crosscutters to a 6-4 win, completing the sweep of the Auburn Doubledays. Brogdon toss three shutout innings of relief, earning his 2nd win of the season. Brogdon scattered three hits and a walk while striking out five. The right-handed reliever struck out the side in the 6th, his first inning of work.

Will Stewart worked five innings in his start, allowing four runs, all earned, on six hits including a two-run home run. Stewart walked four batters and struck out six in a no decision. Luis Ramirez earned his New York-Penn League leading 10th save of the season. Rob Tasin has the Cutters franchise record with 17 saves, doing so in 2015. Jesus Azuaje picked up his first two RBI in a Cutters uniform, finishing the night 0-2. Cole Stobbe continued his hot hitting, finishing the night 2-4 with his first triple of the season. Rodolfo Duran went 2 for 3, picking up his 3rd triple of the season.

Jake Scheiner collected his 13th RBI, finishing the night 1 for 4. Malvin Matos had his 22-game on-base streak snapped, finishing the game 0 for 2, leaving the game in the top of the 4th inning.

The sweep was the first for the Cutters since sweeping Batavia on the road on July 21-23. It was the first home series sweep since sweeping Lowell on July 14-16. Williamsport is now 7-7 against Auburn with four game remaining against the Pinckney division foe.
