Japan Wins the International World Series and Moves on to the Championship Game

Japan defeated Mexico 5-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Keitaro Miyahara struck out Carlos Garcia to finish off the game.

Japan grabbed an early lead. Japan scored on a home run by Keitaro Miyahara, a single by Yuya Nakajima, and a wild pitch in the first inning.

One bright spot for Mexico was a single by Saul Soto in the first inning.

Riku Goto earned the win for Japan. He threw five and two-thirds innings, giving up zero runs, four hits, striking out 13, and walking one. Keitaro recorded the last out to earn the save for Japan. Jorge Garcia took the loss for Mexico. He tossed two innings, giving up four runs, three hits, and striking out seven.

Yuya led Japan with two hits in two at bats. Japan didn't commit a single error in the field. Seiya Arai had 13 chances in the field, the most on the team.

Cesar Monjaraz went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Mexico in hits.
