Lock Haven University - Alyscia Smith named A-10 Player of the Week

Alysica Smith of the LHU field hockey team has been named this week’s Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Junior Alyscia Smith (Newport, Pa./Newport) of the Lock Haven University field hockey team has been named Week 1’s Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) Player of the Week.

Smith shares the honor this week with Chessa Kownurko of VCU as the two were named Co-Players of the Week. Georgie McTear (UMass) and Maite Sturm (VUU) were named Co-Rookies of the Week.

LHU got off to a perfect 2-0 start during the opening weekend thanks in large part to the sensational individual effort of Smith. Through two games, she leads Lock Haven with two goals and six points (2G, 2A).

The Bald Eagles beat Sacred Heart Friday and downed Central Michigan Sunday in an overtime-thriller. Smith scored the game-winning goal in both contests including the overtime-winner just 54 seconds into OT in the victory over visiting CMU.

On Friday, in the 4-1 win over Sacred Heart, Smith added two assists to go along with her game-winning strike.
