Lock Haven University Football - Trent Fielding named Preseason All-American

Trent Fielding of the LHU football team has been named a 2017 Preseason All-American. The Bald Eagles are set to open the season on Saturday at Division I Saint Francis
LIBERTY, Mo. – Redshirt-senior Trent Fielding (Sunbury, Ohio/Urbana) of the Lock Haven University football team has been named a 2017 Preseason All-American.

Fielding (OL, center) was named to the 2017 D2Football.com Preseason All-American Second Team.

Following the 2016 season, Fielding was an Honorable Mention All-American and he was also an All-Region pick.

After last season, Fielding was also nominated for the Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year award.

Fielding was a leader on LHU's offensive line from the start of the 2016 season and a huge reason behind Lock Haven's offensive success, and record-breaking season.

Fielding started and finished the season at center, but at one point or another he saw time at every position on the offensive line.

He registered 156 knockdown blocks and anchored an O-line that ranked No. 1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and among the top-20 in Division II in sacks allowed. LHU ranked No. 1 in the PSAC and in the top-15 nationally in sacks allowed per pass attempt.

In 389 pass attempts, Fielding did not allow a sack, which helped power LHU's potent passing attack and paved the way for record-breaking quarterback Caleb Walton. As the season progressed, the Bald Eagles run-game also excelled thanks to the Fielding-led line.

As a team, LHU broke single season records for total points scored (323 pts.), total offense (4,954 yds.) and team passing offense (3,158 yds.).

The Bald Eagles will open the 2017 season on Saturday, September 2 at NCAA Division I (FCS) Saint Francis on Saturday, September 2 (12 p.m.) in Loretto, Pennsylvania.
