Lycoming Women's Soccer slated eighth in MAC Commonwealth preseason poll

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – After posting the fourth-lowest goals against average in program history in 2016, the Lycoming College women’s soccer team was picked to finish eighth in the 2017MAC Commonwealth Preseason Coaches' Poll, the conference office in Annville, Pa., announced on Friday, Aug. 25.


Messiah, the two-time defending conference champions, topped the poll unanimously with 64 points, while Arcadia (57), Stevenson (47), Lebanon Valley (43) and Albright (37) round out the top five. Alvernia (24) and Widener (21) are picked ahead of Lycoming (20) and Hood (11).

The Warriors finished 7-9-3 overall and 1-6-1 in the MAC Commonwealth last season. Lycoming has won a combined 16 games the last two seasons, the most in a two-year span since 2004-05. Lycoming returns senior forward Jordan Lazarich (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park), the first player in program history to earn all-region honors. She also earned Second Team All-MAC Commonwealth honors as a junior when she finished with school-records of 19 goals and 40 points.

Lycoming opens the season on Friday, Sept. 1, when they host rival Susquehanna for the River Derby at the Shangraw Athletic Complex at 4:30 p.m.
