NEW ORLEANS – The Lock Haven University men’s cross country team will enter the 2017 season ranked No. 4 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) Preseason Atlantic Region rankings.

Shippensburg sits atop the poll, while Edinboro and IUP check in at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.

The Bald Eagles, perennial PSAC, Atlantic Region and national powers, were picked second in the 2017 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

Last season proved to be another special edition of LHU men’s cross country. The Bald Eagles qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships after taking second at both the NCAA Atlantic Region and PSAC Championship meets.

From last year’s NCAA qualifying team, the Bald Eagles return three talented performers including Sam Signor, Patrick Miller and Luke Vanderhoff. That trio all finished as All-Conference, and Miller was just one spot away from an All-Region finish last season.

The Bald Eagles will open the 2017 season on Friday, September 1 with the Dolan Duals, an annual dual meet with Division I Penn State. The men’s 6K will start at 6:30 p.m. at LHU’s West Branch Cross Country Course, located at the Stern Athletic Complex.
