Bloomsburg University - Huskies Men's Cross Country Ranked Sixth In Latest Atlantic Region Poll

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Bloomsburg University men's cross country team is ranked sixth according to the latest U.S Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Atlantic Regional poll. The Huskies dropped one spot from the initial rankings that were released two weeks ago.
The top four teams in the region remained unchanged as Shippensburg, Edinboro, IUP, and Lock Haven currently occupy spots one through four, respectively. Kutztown climbed four spots and moved into the number-five slot in this week's rankings.

The Huskies opened the 2017 season in strong fashion with a convincing win over visiting Mansfield University at the annual Husky Invitational on the Upper Campus Course on Friday, September 1. The Huskies finished with 21 team points as Bloomsburg posted 10 of the top 12 times in the event. Meanwhile, the Mountaineers totaled 38 team points. Senior Daniel Neiswender (Lebanon, Pa/Cedar Crest) won the event by six seconds over Mansfield's Ryan Clifford.

Neiswender crossed the finish line of the 5000-meter event in 16:17 - edging Clifford (16:23) and Mansfield's Quincy Amiabile (16:26). Senior Danny Dugan (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey) was the next-best Husky as he finished fourth overall with a time of 16:34. Junior Nick McGuire (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) followed closely with a time of 16:39 while sophomore Zach Bitner (Mount Holly Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) and junior Eric Heatwole (State College, Pa./State College) tied for sixth overall after posting times of 16:46. Junior Tom Moser (Natalie, Pa./Mt. Carmel) finished eighth in 16:47 while sophomore Declan McDonald (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) was ninth with a time of 17:01. Redshirt senior James Wilson (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) and freshman Hunter Jarratt (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) tied for tenth overall with identical times of 17:28 and freshman Chris McCormick (Ashland, Pa./North Schuylkill) rounded out the Huskies' finishers with a 12th-place result and a time of 17:44.

The Huskies will return to action on Saturday, September 16 at the D-II Challenge hosted by Kutztown University. The 8K race will start at 10:00 a.m.
