DelVal Football Debuts at No. 9 in First AFCA Poll

WACO (TX) – The first American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III Top 25 Poll is out for the 2017 season and undefeated Delaware Valley University is ranked ninth.

The Aggies racked up 748 points in the poll. Defending national champion Mary Hardin Baylor sits atop the poll with 45 of the 52 first-place votes (No. 2 University of Mount Union received the remaining first-place votes) and 1,287 points.

DelVal, which has held steady at No. 12 the last two weeks in the Top 25 poll, is 3-0 overall and 2-0 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play. The Aggies opened the year with a 25-19 victory over nationally-ranked Wesley College. (11th in D3football at the time, tied for 23rd in the first AFCA poll). They then followed with road triumphs over conference foes Lycoming College (34-3) and Wilkes University (34-14).

Defending MAC champion Stevenson University and Albright College are also receiving votes in the AFCA poll. DelVal and Stevenson (2-1, 2-0) meet in Doylestown this Saturday, September 23 (12 p.m.).
