Soccer - Colegrove’s game-winner helps Bald Eagles drop Bloom in OT

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s soccer team (3-1-1, 1-0-0 PSAC) defeated Bloomsburg (1-3-0, 0-1-0 PSAC) 2-1 in dramatic fashion with an overtime goal scored by freshman Shane Colegrove (Athens, Pa./Athens) to help keep the Bald Eagles undefeated at home on the season.

In their first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) game of the season, the Bald Eagles attacked early and continued to attack over the next 90 minutes.  The Bald Eagles posted 19 shots throughout the game, consistently putting pressure on the Bloomsburg defense and keeping the Huskies on their heels.

Senior Zach Hommey (Woodsboro, Md./Walkersville) got the scoring started for Lock Haven after he put a penalty kick into the back of the net in the 21st minute, allowing the Bald Eagles to take a 1-0 lead.

After Bloomsburg tied the game in the 85th minute with a goal off of a corner kick, the game headed to overtime.

Just 3:33 into overtime, Colegrove took a cross from fellow freshman Beckham Sibiski (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown H.S.) and put the ball into the back of the net to seal the win for The Haven.

A number of Bald Eagles played well throughout the game.  Freshmen Reggie Holt (Pittsburgh/Penn Hills) and Matthew McDermott (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg H.S.) continued their strong start to the season, consistently getting behind the Bloomsburg defense and always being threats to score.

Goalkeeper Camden Cook (Rosedale, Md./High Point) made his second career start and recorded two saves.

Lock Haven will next take the field on the road Saturday at Pitt-Johnstown at noon.
