Soccer - Lycoming Warriors top Bobcats, 2-0, for eighth straight win

FROSTBURG, Md. – With a goal late in the first half and early in the second, the fourth-ranked Lycoming College men’s soccer team picked up a 2-0 non-conference road win over Frostburg State on Wednesday evening, Sept. 20, at Bobcat Stadium.

The Warriors (8-0 overall) continue their best start in program history and are on their longest win streak since 2015.


Senior Keenthy Yeboah (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) scored at 42:09 off a throw-in from sophomoreLance Klingler (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) when he controlled the throw and fired the shot in with his left foot into the bottom left corner. It was Yeboah’s third goal of the season, putting him into a four-place tie for most on the team with senior Abdullahi Abdi (Seattle, Wash./James Garfield), Kyle Mizell (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) and Jordan Logan (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area).

Less than 10 minutes of game time later, but on the other side of the break, senior Kyle Stettenbauer(Columbia, Pa./Hempfield) scored his first goal of the season when he headed in a corner kick from seniorMateo Velasquez (Scotrun, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) at 51:13 for the 2-0 lead. With his assist, Velasquez now has 14 career assists, moving him into the top 15 in program history.

Lycoming outshot Frostburg (1-5-2 overall), 14-8 and held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks. Junior Chris Solecki(Hainesport, N.J./Lenape) made two saves for his fourth shutout of the year. Justin Bofill made six saves for Frostburg.

The Warriors return to action on Saturday, Sept. 23, as they stay on the road to take on Case Western Reserve in a non-conference game at 1 p.m.
