Women's Soccer - Women's Soccer Ranked Ninth In Latest Atlantic Region Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - By virtue of a 3-1 start to the 2017 regular season, the Bloomsburg University women's soccer team has made its first appearance in the United Soccer Coaches (formerly the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)) regional rankings as announced by the organization. The Huskies are ranked ninth in the Atlantic Regional poll after not appearing in the first set of regional rankings released last week.

Kutztown University claimed the top spot in this week's regional poll and is currently ranked third in the country as the Golden Bears are a perfect 4-0 on the season. West Virginia Wesleyan climbed one spot and is second while Seton Hill fell a spot and dropped to third. Slippery Rock and Notre Dame College (OH) rounded out the top five in the Atlantic Region.

The Huskies currently lead the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) in scoring offense as they have scored 15 goals through four games this season - an average of 3.75 goals per game. Bloomsburg also leads the conference in shots attempted per game (21.5) and shots on goal per contest (12.5). Defensively, Bloomsburg has allowed five goals through four games - tied for ninth fewest in the league.

Senior Rachel Yenney (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) is off to a blistering start as she has registered at least one point in all four games and leads the team with three goals and four assists for ten points. The three goals have already tied her career-high while her ten points have already broken her previous career-high of seven she set during the 2015 season. She leads the PSAC in assists with four and is tied for second in the league in points with ten. Yenney has gotten help from freshman Mackenzie Gebhardt (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) who has scored three goals for six points. Freshman Maggie McDonald (Burke, Va./West Potomac) (two goals) and sophomore Jessica Milligan (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) (one goal, two assists) are tied for third on the team with four goals apiece. In goal, redshirt freshman Jenna Hawkins(Hamburg, Pa./Fleetwood) has started all four games and is 3-1 with a 1.31 goals against average.

Bloomsburg is set to visit Lock Haven on Wednesday, September 13, with the start time scheduled for 4:00 p.m. After Wednesday's contest, the Huskies will travel to Gannon University on Saturday, September 16 at 3:30 p.m.
