MAC Football Players of the Week Announced October. 29, 2017

ANNVILLE, Pa. (Football) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its football weekly award recipients for the week ending Oct. 28, 2017.

Offensive Player of the Week
Alec Vignola (Albright / Sr., QB / Sicklerville, N.J.) earns his second conference weekly award of the season. Vignola led the Lions to its fourth fourth-quarter comeback of the season. The senior led a 60-yard drive in 1:32 that finished with a 21-yard touchdown pass to Khari Jefferson with just 15 seconds left to give the Lions a 26-23 win over Wilkes. He also engineered a 93-yard drive just before halftime in just 1:46 to send the teams tied at 16-16 into the half. Vignola finished the game with 361 yards on 32-of-42 (76%) and two touchdowns.

Defensive Player of the Week
Cory Pietrzyk (Stevenson / Sr., LB / Turnersville, N.J.) finished with 13 tackles (eight) solo, including three tackles for loss, and an interception he returned 21 yards in a 20-14 setback to Widener. His interception came on the first drive of the game as the Pride were entering the Mustangs’ side of the field.  

Special Teams Player of the Week
Michael Raczak (Widener / So., K-P / Jamison, Pa.) was perfect on scoring opportunities for the Pride in a 20-14 win over Stevenson. Raczak was 2-for-2 on field goals and 2-for-2 on points-after-touchdown (PATs). His two field goals proved to be the different in the game, kicking an opening 29-yarder to take a 3-0 lead. The sophomore then extended the Pride’s lead to 20-7 in the second half to put the game out of reach for the Mustangs. Raczak also had six punts for an averaged of 40.7 yards with a long of 48 yards.

The Centennial Conference and the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced on Nov. 5, 2015 their partnership to hold two postseason football games between member institutions. The Centennial-MAC Bowl Series involves the top two teams from each conference that are not selected to the NCAA Division III Championship.

The top team from each conference that is not selected to the NCAA Division III Championship will host the second best team from the opposing conference not moving on to NCAAs in one game of the series. This season, 2017, the bowl games are scheduled for Saturday, November 18. The MAC has won all four of the bowl series games through the first two years.
