Mr. MAC With Back To Back Perfection And Picking The Widener Vs Stevenson Game

Five games, five correct picks! Oh no, eight straight games and eight correct pics. And my gut feeling for the new Widener surge was right on. They are coming into their own at the end of the season. They need to peak right now setting up the big year-end game with DelVal. That is if both teams win this coming weekend. So lets look at last weeks games and how close I came to the spread and score.
Wilkes at Albright
Mr. MAC Says: Albright 49 - Wilkes 14
Actual Score    : Albright 26 - Wilkes 23
I did not come close in this game mainly due to Wilkes great defensive performance. But I put a checkmark in the win column. Let's talk about winless Wilkes. They were a great big surprise. The offense was acceptable and the defense played their best game of the year. Maybe they are coming out of their stagnation in time for the annual Colonels vs Monarchs slugfest next week. Albright used a touchdown pass with fifteen seconds remaining in the game to knock the Colonels first win of the season hopes spinning to the ground. It must have been a hard pill to swallow for the guys who keep practicing and persevering over in Wilkes Barre, PA. Albright continues to live on the edge as six out of their eight games have been won or lost by less than a touchdown.

Lebanon Valley at Delaware Valley
Mr. MAC Says: DelVal 28 - Lebanon Valley 14
Actual Score    : DelVal 35 - Lebanon Valley   0
In case you wondered, Delaware Valley University's defense is for real. They are brutal in their pursuit of running backs, wide receivers and quarterbacks. Lebanon Valley had only 51 net yards rushing and 79 net yards passing. Flip the coin over and you will see DelVal's numbers are huge! They had 279 yards rushing and 154 yards passing for 433 total net yards. Lebanon Valley never entered the Aggies RED ZONE while DelVal converted 4-4 chances. Finally, the Aggies score an average of 38 points per game while allowing only 8.75 points.  DelVal is away this week and Misericordia will have their hands full on this one. Anyway, it looks like the Aggies will be undefeated for the final game with Widener. Should be an interesting game. Could we see a giant upset?

FDU-Florham at King's
Mr. MAC Says: King's 42 - FDU-Florham 32
Actual Score    : King's 18 - FDU-Florham 15I thought FDU would give King's a good battle, but did not anticipate a field goal difference difference in this one. Both teams can put up points, but this game was relatively low scoring. King's seems to be similar to Albright. They have played five of their eight game with less than a touchdown difference. They seem to play as good as their opponent. With almost five minutes in the game, FDU-Florham kicked a field goal edging their previous lead from 12-10 to 15-10. But King's came back with a winning one yard touchdown run with 1:42 on the clock. The seven play 48 yard drive sealed the win giving King's a 4-4 season so far.

FDU-Florham hosts Albright which could also be a very close game.

Misericordia at Lycoming
Mr. MAC Says: Lycoming 34 - Misericordia 14
Actual Score    : Lycoming 35 - Misericordia 17
This game was my closest pick. Lycoming was playing without their first string Sr. QB Chase Williams, but back up Sr. QB Collin Wright filled the gap with flying colors. He threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another. So. RB Dante Gipson caught one pass and rushed for the other score. Lycoming is on the uptick winning four of their last five games. Misericordia continues to struggle scoring points and the defense isn't up to par yet this year.

Widener at Stevenson
Mr. MAC Says: Widener 28 - Stevenson 27
Actual Score    : Widener 20 - Stevenson 14
I had this feeling about this game since I have watched both Widener and Stevenson play. I also compared how they played against teams which I believe are playing better than they appear to be. And some teams are slightly over rated when looking at their record in my opinion. Widener is a team that is playing much better than they did in the beginning of the year.

Coming Back "Almost!"
Stevenson trailed 20-7 entering the fourth quarter, but with a drive that started at midfield following a 20-yard punt return by senior Preston Addo, cut the lead to 20-14 on a 20-yard completion from junior Dan Williams to senior Devin Salisbury to make it a 20-14 game with 5:02 remaining. Widener went three-and-out on its next drive as Rob Ennis, Jr. rushed three times for a total of seven yards. Punting from their own 48, a 40-yard punt was returned 45 yards by Addo, putting the Mustangs at the Pride 43 with 2:43 left and two timeouts.

Goal Line Stand
On second and goal, Stevenson's Jr QB Dan Williams and junior Isaiah Austin got tangled up on a handoff causing Austin to fall at the eight yard line. Daqwan Hill got the Mustangs back to the 4 on his third down rush. Following a Stevenson timeout, the Mustangs were looking pass, but Widener's defense had the receivers locked down, and Williams tried to squeeze a pass into the right side of the end zone to junior Sebastien Vainqueur. The pass fell short out of bounds.
