Montoursville – A section of Route 1003 (Wallis Run Road) in Lycoming County, which has been closed due to a soil slide that occurred during flooding in October 2016, is expected to be open by the end of October.
The reconstructed road will connect to a temporary bridge that is currently in place over Wallis Run.
There will be single lane traffic controlled with temporary traffic signals until a permanent bridge is completed. The road then will be opened to traffic in both directions.
Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. is the prime contractor on this $5 million project.
Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 825 traffic cameras.
511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.
