Haines to wrestle at 2017 NWCA All-Star Classic

Thomas Haines of the LHU wrestling team has been selected to compete in Sunday’s (Nov. 5) NWCA All-Star Classic.
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Redshirt-junior Thomas Haines (Quarryville, Pa./Solanco) of the Lock Haven University wrestling team has been selected to compete in the 2017 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Star Classic.

The All-Star Classic, now in its 52nd year, is set for Sunday, Nov. 5 at 3 p.m. in Princeton University’s Jadwin Gym. Tickets are $20.

Haines’ selection to the All-Star Classic marks the second straight year that LHU wrestling will be represented in the prestigious event. Fellow Solanco High School product Ronnie Perry (Christiana, Pa./Solanco) competed in the event last year and picked up a 8-2 win over Cleveland State’s Evan Cheek.

In a showcase-match at 285, Haines will take on Columbia’s Garrett Ryan.

Haines is a returning NCAA Division I national qualifier and last season he went 33-7 overall. He was the runner up at the Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) Championships last year. Haines enters the 2017-18 season ranked as high as No. 9 in some national media polls.
