Field Hockey - Huskies Wehner Named Longstreth/NFHCA Second Team All-American

GILBERT, Ariz. - Junior Tali Wehner (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) of the Bloomsburg University field hockey team earned her second All-American honor in less than a week as she has been named a Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Second Team All-American as announced by the organization on Monday afternoon. Last week, Wehner earned Second Team All-American status from Synapse Sports while, last month, the junior also claimed a spot on the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Second Team.

Wehner was one of 32 players across the country selected as either a First- or Second-Team All-American from the NFHCA. The All-American honors from the NFHCA and from Synapse Sports are the first of Wehner's collegiate career. She has been named to the All-PSAC Second Team in each of the past two seasons.

Wehner had another strong season in the Maroon and Gold as she started all 19 games for the Huskies and recorded three assists during the season - two at Queens in the season opener on September 2 and one against Mercyhurst on October 7. She also registered a pair of defensive saves during the year - at home against Lindenwood on October 8 and at Mansfield on October 11.

The junior will enter her senior season in 2018 with one goal and ten assists for 12 points in 56 career games (55 starts).

The Huskies closed out the 2017 campaign with an overall record of 10-9. Bloomsburg earned the fifth seed in the PSAC tournament but ultimately fell, 1-0, at fourth-seeded West Chester in the conference quarterfinals. It marked the third straight season, and sixth time in eight seasons under head coach Nikki Rhoads, of making the conference playoffs. Bloomsburg also earned double-digit victories for the 36th time in the last 37 seasons dating back to an 8-5-3 record in 1980.
