LHU's Ronnie Perry named PSAC Wrestler of the Week

Ronnie Perry of the LHU wrestling team has been named the PSAC Wrestler of the Week after going 3-0 at Saturday’s (Dec. 16) Bald Eagle Duals.
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Ronnie Perry (Christiana, Pa./Solanco) of the No. 22/17 Lock Haven University wrestling team has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Week.

Perry went 3-0 at the Bald Eagle Duals on Saturday to extend his win streak to 12 matches. The nation’s 13th-ranked 149 pounder is now 13-1 on the season with five tech falls and six majors.

Perry’s three wins at the Bald Eagle duals powered Lock Haven to three lopsided dual-meet wins. LHU was a perfect 3-0 on the day and improved to 4-0 on the season after recording wins over Wheeling Jesuit (No. 23 DII) and Messiah (No. 14 DIII), and before rolling past PSAC and Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) foe Bloomsburg, 37-2.

Perry’s three wins also pushed him to 85 career wins as he looks to become LHU’s 20th 100-win club member later this season.

All three of Perry’s wins came by way of tech fall at the Bald Eagle Duals as he racked up 66 points in less than 21 minutes. Perry outscored his opponents 66-20.

He opened the day with a 16-0 tech fall of Wheeling Jesuit’s Daniel Romero in a bout that lasted just 1:55. Perry followed it up with a 26-11 workmanlike effort vs. Messiah’s Stephen Maloney. He capped the day with a clinical performance vs. Bloomburg’s Ryan Stocku. Perry won 24-9 and ended the bout at the 6:20 mark.

This marks two straight PSAC Wrestler of the Week honors for Perry and in all, Lock Haven has won three of four PSAC Wrestler of the Week awards this season.
