Lycoming College men’s basketball team hosts Widener University

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Looking to end the first quarter of its conference schedule undefeated, the Lycoming College men’s basketball team hosts Widener University on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. at Lamade Gym.

In their 73-62 win over Alvernia, the Warriors (8-0 overall, 3-0 MAC Commonwealth) built a 17-point lead before the Golden Wolves climbed back within five with less than five minutes remaining. In the final three minutes, senior Chris Wallace had six points, four rebounds, a steal and a block. He finished with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Already with a win against 24th-ranked Scranton University, the Pride come in looking for their second win against a nationally ranked opponent. In their last outing, Widener fell to MAC Commonwealth rival Albright, 83-78. Tyler Drews scored a game-high 24 points in the loss.

Warrior Notes
• The Warriors’ 8-0 start is tied with the 1950-51 squad for the third best start in program history. The team started 10-0 in 2004-05 and 12-0 in 2011-12.

• With 139 career steals, senior Chris Wallace needs three more to tie Rasheed Campbell (1996-00) for the fifth most in program history.

• Junior T.J. Duckett’s career .438 3-point field goal percentage is the second highest in program history.

• Wallace is the only player in the conference to be in the top 10 in both steals per game (2.4) and blocks per game (1.4) as he ranks first and third, respectively.

• The Warriors are the only team in the MAC Commonwealth to have three players ranked in the top-10 in steals per game, as  Wallace (2.4), senior Alex Newbold (1.8) and sophomore Ronald Jefferson (1.6) rank first, eighth and 10th, respectively.
