WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After beating a top-10 opponent in his second straight event to lead the Warriors to a 2-1 record at the Washington & Lee Duals, senior Brandon Conrad (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) has earned his first career Middle Atlantic Conference Wrestler of the Week award, the conference office in Annville, Pa., announced on Tuesday, Dec. 26.
Conrad went 3-0 at the duals as he improved to 17-2 on the season and 97-41 in his career, moving into seventh in the school's career record book. The 174-pounder beat Matt Marcotte, ranked 10th by the NWCA, of North Central by major decision, 8-0, in opening match of the duals. He also posted a pin of Averett's Deangelo Evans in 49 seconds and wrapped up the event with a 2-1 win, scoring a third-period reversal to post win over Washington & Lee's Brandon LeFore.
Conrad is the third Warrior to earn the MAC Wrestler of the Week award this year, joining junior Garrett Wesneski (Canton, Pa./Canton Area), who earned it Nov. 6, and junior Trevor Corl (Howard, Pa./Bellefonte Area), who took the award Dec. 4.
The Warriors get back on the mat on Saturday, Jan. 6, when they head to the N.Y./Pa. Duals at King's College, facing RIT at 1 p.m. and Oswego at 2:30 p.m.
