Wilkes’ Armstrong Named to All-Region Team

WILKES-BARRE – Wilkes University senior tight end Garrett Armstrong has been named to the All-East Region team as announced by the website Wednesday morning.

Armstrong was named to the third team offense as a tight end. It marks the second straight year Armstrong has been named to the all-region squad, earning second team honors as a junior in 2016.

Armstrong proved again to be the best tight end in the conference topping all players at the position with 60 receptions for 608 yards and six touchdowns. He set career-highs in all three categories ranking seventh in the MAC in receptions, 13th in yards and 8th in touchdowns. His best game came in week one when he caught ten passes for 121 yards and one score against Muhlenberg College. Armstrong went over 50 yards receiving six times in ten games and caught five or more passes five times.

Armstrong finished his career 8th all-time in receptions with 131 while totaling 1,332 yards and 14 touchdowns.

He was one of 14 MAC football players selected to the All-East Region team. Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools. A total of 1,037 players were nominated.
