KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In the final rankings released late Tuesday, it was revealed that for the first time in 12 years, the Wilkes University women’s soccer team has received votes in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Women’s National Ranking.
The Lady Colonels finished the season 14-4-3 after defeating Connecticut College in the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament before falling to Johns Hopkins University.
"We are excited to be recognized as we want to be competitive on a national stage,” head coach John Sumoski said of the honor. “It's been a while since this team has walked onto the field with the kind of confidence that is required to win games at that level and our women have earned every bit of that confidence through hard work and following a plan."
