Longtime assistant baseball coach Heath Stover has been named the team’s interim head coach for the 2018 season
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Longtime Lock Haven University assistant baseball coach Heath Stover has been named the program’s interim head coach for the 2018 season.

Stover, a LHU graduate, just finished his 20th season as an assistant coach with the Bald Eagles and for the last 20 seasons he’s played a vital role in the team’s overall success, both on and off the field.

“As an alum of the program and a longtime assistant, it is truly an honor to have the opportunity to lead the LHU baseball team this season,” said Stover. “I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity and couldn’t be more excited to get to work with the team.”

“Heath has been instrumental in developing a successful baseball program here at LHU,” said LHU Director of Athletics Tom Gioglio. “I am confident that Heath’s work ethic, teaching, recruiting and knowledge of the game will continue to have a positive impact and allow the team to build on their previous accomplishments.”

For last three seasons, Stover has worked primarily with the pitchers. Under Stover’s leadership, a trio of Bald Eagle pitchers from last season’s rotation reached the professional ranks over the summer including Jacob Belinda, who was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 10th Round of the MLB Draft.

Stover is a noted clinician, and has strong local and regional recruiting networks.

Stover is a 1997 graduate of LHU, earning a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education. In 2009, he earned his master’s in teaching and learning.

As a player at LHU, Stover was a standout and still ranks among the top-10 in several of the school’s all-time offensive categories.

Stover resides in Lock Haven with his wife Jen along with their three daughters Alyssa, Katelyn, and Sophia. He will also proudly follow in his father Paul “Smokey” Stover’s footsteps. His father served as head baseball coach at LHU for 25 seasons.
