Huskies Men's Indoor Track And Field Heads To VMI This Weekend For Keydet Invitational

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Bloomsburg University men's indoor track and field team will be participating in the two-day Keydet Invitational, hosted by Virginia Military Institute, this weekend. Events on day one of the meet will get underway on Friday, January 19, at 2:00 p.m. with day two starting on Saturday, January 20, at 10:00 a.m.

A total of 24 schools will have athletes competing at the event. Joining Bloomsburg at the meet will be members from Virginia Military Institute, George Mason, Elon, Randolph, Hampton, Lynchburg, Roanoke, William and Mary, Norfolk State, Concord, Washington & Lee, Coastal Carolina, Virginia Tech, Liberty, East Carolina, UNC Asheville, VCU, Virginia State, Charlotte, North Carolina State, Campbell, South Carolina State, and St. Augustine.

Bloomsburg returned to action last Friday night, January 12, at the Golden Bear Invitational hosted by Kutztown University.

On the track, the Huskies had several top-ten finishes led by Eric Heatwole (State College, Pa./State College)'s second-place result in the 1000-meter run. Heatwole crossed the finish line in 2:40.33, just ahead of a pair of freshmen teammates - Hunter Jarratt (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) and Chris McCormick (Ashland, Pa./North Schuylkill) - who finished fourth and fifth respectively. Jarratt completed the race in 2:42.80 while McCormick came in with a time of 2:44.70. Zach Bitner (Mount Holly Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs)James Wilson (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South), and Austin Kline (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) each had a third-place finish during the meet. Bitner placed third in the 3000-meter run with a time of 9:32.14 while Wilson completed the mile in 4:33.75. Kline posted a time of 2:05.08 in the 800-meter run.

In the 55-meter hurdles, Dave Lauscar (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) crossed the finish line in fourth with a time of 8.36 seconds. Lauscar also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash as he completed the event in 24.57 seconds. Marcus Gray (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) also had a fourth-place result on the night as he was the fastest Huskies' runner in the 55-meter dash where he crossed the line in 6.73 seconds.

In the field events, AJ Peapos (Easton, Pa./Notre Dame) had the best Bloomsburg finish as he placed fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.84 meters. In the long jump, Jason Jablonowski(Simpson, Pa./Carbondale Area) finished ninth with a jump of 5.80 meters while Matthew Loeh (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock Township) came in 14th in the weight throw with a toss of 10.89 meters.

The Huskies will be back in action on Friday, January 26, and Saturday, January 27, to compete at the Bison Open and Multi, hosted by Bucknell University.
