LEXINGTON, Va. - The Bloomsburg University men's indoor track and field team completed day one of competition on Friday night at the Keydet Invitational, hosted by Virginia Military Institute. The Huskies had a pair of fifth-place finishes in two relay events to headline their day-one results.
In the 4x800-meter relay, the foursome of Hunter Jarratt (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove), Chris McCormick (Ashland, Pa./North Schuylkill), Tom Moser (Natalie, Pa./Mt. Carmel), and Zach Bitner(Mount Holly Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) crossed the finish line in 8:22.04 to finish fifth in the event. Then, in the distance medley relay, the team of James Wilson (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South), Austin Kline (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West), Eric Heatwole (State College, Pa./State College), and Danny Dugan(Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey) posted an identical fifth-place result with a time of 10:39.61.
Three Huskies - Marcus Gray (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt), Kevin Calabrese, and Owen Eisen (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) - competed in the 60-meter dash on Friday night. Gray was the Huskies' top finisher as he posted a time of 7.26 seconds to finish 37th overall. Calabrese was 52nd with a time of 7.49 seconds while Eisen came in 56th after crossing the line in 7.68 seconds.
Bloomsburg had just one athlete compete in a field event on Friday as Matthew Loeh (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock Township)finished 20th overall in the weight throw with a mark of 10.35 meters.
Day two of action at the Keydet Invitational is scheduled to get underway on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m.
