Penn College Men's Basketball Earns First Conference Win

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College picked up its first conference victory with a 77-67 win over Cazenovia in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball game Wednesday. PCT improved to 1-5 NEAC, 2-13 overall, while Cazenovia dropped to 4-11, 3-4.

Robert Young Jr. netted a game-high 24 points on 8 of 13 from the floor, and 6 of 6 from the line. Spencer Bartron connected on four threes and finished with 16 points, and James Bullock earned his first career double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Jesse Whitegrabbed a game-high 14 rebounds for Penn College.

Wil Thompson paced Caz with 16 points, and Ahmon Powell and Jaceary Menes both finished with 13 points.

After Cazenovia took its largest lead of the game, 22-18, with 8:19 left in the first, Penn College responded with seven straight – on a trey from Bartron and layups by White and Bullock – to take a 25-23 advantage with 6:12 before the half. Cazenovia pulled within one, 25-24, three minutes later, but PCT finished off the half with a 10-3 spurt and headed into the locker room ahead 35-27.

Penn College took its largest lead, 38-27, on Bartron long ball early in the second half before Caz clawed back within five 48-44 with 12:50 left in the game. PCT answered with an 8-1 run and led 56-45 on a pair Bullock freebies with 9:47 on the clock, before Caz rallied to pull within two, 62-60, five minutes later.

Caz got as close as three again, 66-63, with 2:58 on the clock but Penn College received timely layups from Bullock, White, and Erik Perry Jr. down the stretch, and Young went 4 for 4 from the line to ice the game.

Penn College returns to action Saturday, 1 p.m., at Morrisville.
