WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – After a week with two come-from-behind wins over MAC Commonwealth foes, 10th-ranked Lycoming College men’s basketball coach Guy Rancourt has earned the program’s first Hoopdirt.com Division III Coach of the Week award, the website announced on Monday, Jan. 15.

Rancourt, who is 173-83 in his 10th year with the Warriors (16-1 overall, 7-1 MAC Commonwealth), coached the team to an 86-85 win over Albright College, which is receiving votes in the D3hoops.com poll. The Warriors trailed by 14 with under five minutes remaining and they ended the game on a 22-7 run, capped by two free throws from freshman D’Yante Doughty (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) with 4.8 seconds remaining, to pull off the comeback.

Lycoming capped the week with a 79-75 road win over Arcadia University on Saturday as it faced a seven-point deficit late in the first half. In the final 66 seconds, the Warriors hit 6-of-8 free throws to hold off a late rally from the Knights.

Rancourt led the two-time defending MAC Commonwealth champions to their best start in program history and the longest win streak when they got off to a 13-0 start and rose to as high as sixth in the D3hoops.com poll.

The Warriors, who are in first place in the MAC Commonwealth at the halfway point of the conference season for the fourth year in a row, return to the court on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 3 p.m., when they host Hood at Lamade Gym in a MAC Commonwealth match-up.
