Wilkes Athletics to Host Second National Women and Girls in Sports Day Clinic

WILKES-BARRE – For the second year, the Wilkes University athletic department will host a free clinic for girls in grades K-6 in honor of National Women and Girls on Sports Day.

The clinic, which is designed to promote the positive influence that athletic participation has on young women, will include instruction from current female student-athletes in field hockey, lacrosse, basketball, soccer, and softball, with all skill levels encouraged to attend with participants to be separated by age.

The session will be held on Sunday, February 25th in the McHale Athletic Center (formerly the University Center on Main) from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

“We are very excited to host this special event for you girls,” field hockey head coach/SWA Sara Myers explained. “This is a great way for girls to get the opportunity to try different sports all in one venue. Our student-athletes do a wonderful job of teaching and sharing their love of the game and join us in observing and celebrating the extraordinary achievements of women and girls in sports.”
