Wilkes Picked Sixth in 2018 Inaugural MAC Men's Volleyball Coaches' Preseason Poll


ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Wilkes University men's volleyball team was selected to finish sixth by the conference coaches in the first season of Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play as the conference office announced the 2018 Inaugural MAC Men's Volleyball Coaches' Preseason Poll Thursday morning.

The Colonels collected 13 points in the poll.

Stevenson earned 36 points and all six first-place votes to enter the inaugural season of MAC play as the favorite to earn the championship. Arcadia was picked to finish second with 28 points and Messiah was selected third with 27 points. Alvernia (22 points) and Misericordia (15 points) were slated in fourth and fifth respectively. Widener, with six points, rounded out the poll in seventh.

Wilkes enters the program's second season of play after going 9-16 during its inaugural campaign. In 2017 head coach Joseph Czopek's squad went 0-3 against teams that will compete in the MAC this season.

The Colonels begin the 2018 season on Wednesday, January 17 at Lancaster Bible College. The team's first-ever MAC game will be contested on Saturday, February 3 at Stevenson. The 12-game conference schedule will determine the four teams that will play in the semifinals of the MAC Championship on April 11 with the MAC Championship Final set for April 14.
