Wilkes Softball Selected Third in MAC Freedom Preseason Poll

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Wilkes University softball team has been picked to finish third in the 2018 Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) Softball Coaches’ Preseason Poll released by the conference office this morning.


The Lady Colonels earned one first place vote and 33 points from the MAC Freedom coaches.

Two-time defending conference champion Manhattanville College was selected to finish first with 47 points and received six first place votes. King’s College came in second with 38 points. Just behind Wilkes in fourth place was Misericordia University with 31 points and then DeSales University was fifth with 24 points and one first place vote. Rounding out the preseason survey was FDU-Florham in sixth with 21 points, Delaware Valley University seventh with 16 points, and Eastern University eighth with 14 points.

The Lady Colonels open their season in Winchester, Va. with a doubleheader against Shenandoah University on Saturday, March 3 with the first game at 10:00 a.m. MAC Freedom play is scheduled to start when Wilkes hosts Eastern for two games on Saturday, March 17 with a 1:00 p.m. start time.
