Wilkes Women’s Basketball falls at Home to DeSales

WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women’s basketball team lost 101-36 to DeSales University in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) mid-week action Wednesday night at the Marts Center.

Wilkes fell to 4-11 overall and 0-5 in MAC Freedom competition while DeSales is 9-7 and 4-1 in conference games.

Gianna Roberts led the Lady Colonels with eight points and four rebounds. Maddie Kelley tied her career-high with six points and also grabbed four rebounds and Alyssa Alfano added seven points. The team went 15-of-21 from the free-throw stripe.

Kaitlin Kelly and Leandra Sterner each finished with 23 points for the Bulldogs. Kelly went 7-of-7 from behind the arc in the first half for 21 of her points while Sterner was 7-of-8 from the floor in the first half and scored 21 points as well.

The Lady Colonels remain home Saturday to face King’s College on Hall of Fame Day at the Marts Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
