William D. Fischer, 69, of Williamsport, died suddenly at home on Jan. 23, 2018. He was born Sept. 4, 1948, the son of John E. and Frances Fischer. He was a longtime member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Saratoga and the USS Ranger. 

He had been employed by Bailey Control, now Primus and was a member of the VFW Duboistown Post No. 7863, he was a lifetime member of the Harmonia Club, Consolidated Sportsmen and the White Deer Golf Club. He is survived by his mother, Frances Fischer; brothers, John E. Fischer Jr., Gary (Karen) Fischer, Eric (Elizabeth) Fischer, all of Williamsport; sisters, Ann L. (John) Ward, of Sanford, Fla. and Jane (Joseph) Chadek, of Omaha, Nebraska; and eleven nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 800 W. Central Ave., South Williamsport, on Saturday Jan. 27, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. with his pastor Rev. Michael Zipay officiating. 

Friends may call at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., Williamsport, on Friday evening from 7 to 9 pm. 

Burial will be in St. Boniface Church Cemetery.
