Women's Basketball - Huskies Saxton Tabbed PSAC East Freshman of the Week

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Freshman guard Emma Saxton (York, Pa./Central York) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) east division Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday (Jan. 16). The honor is Saxton's first of the season.

Despite the Huskies dropping their last three games, the freshman has had quite a stellar week. Logging 30 minutes or better in each of her last three games, Saxton has shot 51.7 percent (15-29) from the field and 60.0 percent (6-10) from the free throw line. She has also pulled down 16 total rebounds over that stretch and totaled six assists.

In the 74-63 loss against West Chester on Dec. 8, Saxton registered one bucket and a pair of free throws for a four-point night. She also pulled down five rebounds and dished out five assists. During the 77-65 loss at Millersville back on Jan. 10, Saxton again logged 30 minutes on the floor, while shooting 7-11 from the floor and making one of two free throws for 15 points. She also pulled down five rebounds in the contest. Last Saturday (Jan. 13) at East Stroudsburg, Saxton again scored in double-figures with a team-high 17 points. She finished 7-11 shooting from the field and also made three foul shots, while also collecting six rebounds, one assist and one steal.

The York, Pa. native is the daughter of Scott and Karen Saxton, and is an education major.
