Huskies Women's Indoor Track And Field Posts Strong Showing At Bucknell Friday Night

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's indoor track and field team had 14 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) marks on Friday night as the Huskies competed in the Bucknell University Tune-Up.

Kirsten O'Malley (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) and Carli Dedics (Drums, Pa./Hazleton Area) were double qualifiers while ten others posted single qualifying marks to get them into the conference meet later this month. O'Malley tied for third in the long jump with a mark of 5.40 meters and then placed second overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.10. Her time in the 400 is the third-fastest mark in the PSAC this season and was her fastest time of the year in the event. Dedics, meanwhile, took fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.03 and placed fourth in the 200-meter dash after crossing the finish line in 26.30.

Autumn Kaminski (Mountain Top, Pa./Holy Redeemer) got under the conference standard in the 60-meter hurdles and placed fourth overall with a time of 9.45 seconds while Sarah Gottschalk(Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) posted a PSAC mark in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.40. In the 800-meter run, both Madison Mimnaugh (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Pittston Area) and Autumn Avery (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) posted qualifying runs. Mimnaugh placed third with a time of 2:19.47 while Avery was sixth clocking in at 2:23.28.

In the field events, Kathleen Stevenson (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) joined O'Malley as a qualifier in the long jump. Stevenson finished fifth overall with a mark of 5.37 meters.

Chelsea Vaughn () earned a qualifying mark in the triple jump with a best distance of 10.49 meters. Amanda Simone (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) tied for fourth overall in the high jump with a mark fo 1.55 meters while Alaina Pearson (Coal Township, Pa./Shamokin Area) took fifth in the pole vault after clearing a height of 3.35 meters. Vaughn also had a top-ten finish in the high jump, tying for ninth with a mark of 1.50 meters.

In the weight throw, both Rachael Sullivan (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) and Hannah Masenheimer (New Tripoli, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) had conference-qualifying throws. Sullivan finished seventh overall with a toss of 14.66 meters while Masenheimer placed 12th with a mark of 13.70 meters.

The Huskies also had a strong performance in the 4x400-meter relay as the quartet of Natalia Konitzer (Orangeville, Pa./Marian Catholic)Jessica Brenfleck (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), Pearson, and Emilee Borchert (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) took fourth with a time of 4:17.28. Gottschalk, Avery, Mimnaugh, and Danielle Adornetto (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) finished with fifth with a time of 4:21.99.

Bloomsburg will head to Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, to compete in the Susquehanna Open on Saturday, February 17. It will be the final indoor event prior to the conference championships, hosted by Edinboro University, which takes place on February 24 and February 25.
