Last season, the Huskies finished as the runner-up for the third straight year, finishing with a total of 1073.5 points. West Chester went on to claim its 11th consecutive team title after posting a total of 1817 points in the overall team standings.

While the Huskies did not claim the team title or any individual victories at last season's meet, they did have several strong performances to get them into second place in the team standings. Becca Cubbler (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) broke the school record and finished in a tie for second overall in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.55. Sydney Mercer (Bloomsburg, Pa./Millville) also broke the school record in the 200-yard backstroke to finish fourth overall with a time of 2:04.00. Meanwhile, both the 400-yard freestyle and the 800-yard freestyle relay teams finished second overall in their respective events.

Cubbler and Mercer are both back this season and should be among the top finishers in several events at this year's conference meet. The duo will be joined by redshirt senior Nikki Young (Eagleville, Pa./Methacton) who returns to the conference championship after missing last year due to an injury. Young has had a sensational season and ranks in the top six in six different events heading into the meet.

Bloomsburg went 5-2 in duals during the 2017-18 regular season but ended the year on a five-meet winning streak. The Huskies also had another strong showing at the Zippy Invitational, hosted by the University of Akron, as they finished seventh in the event back in early December.

Young should be one of the favorites in a half-dozen of individual events over the course of the four days. Young currently holds the top time in the PSAC in the 100-yard breaststroke and is tied for the top seed in the 100-yard freestyle. She ranks fifth in the 200-yard individual medley and in the 100-yard butterfly and currently occupies the sixth spot in the 50-yard freestyle and the 200-yard breaststroke. Young, depending on her workload, should also be a factor in several of the relay events including the 400-yard medley relay, which has the fastest time in the conference entering the meet.

Cubbler and senior Karly Hursey (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) should be huge factors in the distance freestyle events. Cubbler ranks fourth or better in the 200, the 500, the 1000, and the 1650, while Hursey ranks fifth or sixth in all four distances. Mercer also ranks in the top nine in four different events - second in the 200-yard backstroke, fifth in the 100-yard backstroke, sixth in the 400-yard individual medley, and ninth in the 200-yard individual medley.

Senior Courtney Middleton (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) is fifth in the 200-yard butterfly and sixth in the 100-yard butterfly. Junior Samantha Carpenter (Sunbury, Pa./Shamokin Area), sophomore Kiera Wadsworth (Blakeslee, Pa./Ridley), and freshman Chelsea Ackerson (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert) also rank in the top ten in a pair of events entering the meet.

Several others should have important roles in determining where the Huskies finish in the overall team standings. Included among those individuals are Shannon Ball (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff)Marykate Boylan (Edgemont, Pa./Penncrest)Sammie Carroll (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee)Kate Cossitor (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley)Kaitlyn Floyd (Mertztown, Pa./Kutztown)Abby Kling (York, Pa./Spring Grove)Kelley McHugh (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower)Lauren Minford (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley)Lindsay Mooney (Salisbury, Md./Parkside)Kelsey Neff (Elysburg, Pa./Bloomsburg), and Sarah Ritter (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll).
