Lycoming's McFadden named MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – After posting a season-high 19 points as the Lycoming College women’s basketball team reached 16 wins for the first time in 18 seasons, sophomore Akilah McFadden (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) has earned her first career MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week award, the conference office in Annville, Pa. announced on Monday, Feb. 5.

McFadden averaged a team-best 16.0 points per game in MAC Commonwealth wins over Alvernia and Arcadia, helping the team clinch at worst a No. 4 seed in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth Championship. With a 10-3 record in league play, the Warriors are two games out of first place and hold a two-game lead on third place with three games remaining in the regular season.

McFadden shot 48 percent (10-of-21) from the field, 50 percent from 3-point range (3-of-6), and 90 percent at the free throw line (9-of-10) while also adding 5.0 assists and 5.0 steals per game in the pair of wins.

She posted 13 points, five assists, five steals and four rebounds in a 67-49 win over Alvernia before posting a season-high 19 points, five assists and five assists in a 66-49 win against Arcadia.

McFadden is second on the team with an average of 10.9 points per game while leading the team with an average of 29.0 minutes played per contest. The 5-6 guard is seventh in the MAC Commonwealth in assists (3.7), second in assist/turnover ratio (1.6) and ninth in steals (1.9).

McFadden is the second Warrior to earn the conference’s player of the week of the season, as senior Shelby Mueller (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) earned it on Dec. 11.

The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, Feb. 10, when they head to Stevenson for a key MAC Commonwealth matchup. The women's game will tip at 1 p.m. before the men play at 3 p.m.
