Men's Indoor Track And Field Tied For Seventh After Day One At PSAC Championships

EDINBORO, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University men's indoor track and field team finds itself in a tie for seventh place, collecting a total of 13 team points, after day one of competition at the 2018 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Indoor Championships, hosted by Edinboro University.

The Huskies collected points in four different events on Saturday afternoon while Austin Kline (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) qualified for Sunday's finals in the 400-meter dash. Kline ran an indoor personal-best time of 49.80 to finish sixth during qualifications. Dave Lauscar (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) is also in strong position for a podium spot on Sunday as he currently sits in fifth place after four events in the heptathlon.

Matthew Hart (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) shattered his personal best in the weight throw, coming up with a toss of 16.21 meters in his final attempt of the afternoon, to finish in fifth place overall. His previous best was 15.67 meters at the Houghton December Classic earlier this season. Hart was the only field competitor for the Huskies on Saturday and has a chance to make some noise in the shot put on Sunday.

On the track, the Huskies' distance medley relay team finished fifth with a time of 10:33.72. The foursome consisted of Hunter Jarratt (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove)Ben Williams(Stewartsville, N.J./Philliipsburg)Tom Moser (Natalie, Pa./Mt. Carmel), and Danny Dugan (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey). Bloomsburg also collected points in the 4x800-meter relay as the group of Jarratt, Moser, James Wilson (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South), and Chris McCormick (Ashland, Pa./North Schuylkill)crossed the finish line in 8:09.71 to place sixth overall.

The final points of the day came from Daniel Neiswender(Lebanon, Pa/Cedar Crest) who placed seventh in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:24.14.

Lauscar had a strong first day in the heptathlon - just his second collegiate attempt in the event. He started the day by tying for second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.23 seconds and then ended day one by finishing second in the high jump with a height of 1.87 meters. He was seventh in the long jump and eighth in the shot put and currently sits in fifth place with a total of 2550 points entering Sunday's finishing three events.

Sunday's final day of competition is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m.
