BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - Junior Kirsten O'Malley (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) of the Bloomsburg University indoor women's track and field team has been selected to participate in the 2018 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships. O'Malley will compete in the triple jump on Saturday, March 10, beginning at 4:30 p.m. (3:30 p.m. central time).

The championships will be held on Friday, March 9, and Saturday, March 10, in Pittsburg, Kansas at the Robert W. Plaster Center. Pittsburg State University and the Crawford County Convention & Visitors Bureau will serve as co-hosts of the championships.

O'Malley enters the national indoor meet with the 16th-best mark in the triple jump this season. She posted an indoor school-record jump of 12.06 meters at the Houghton December Classic back on Friday, December 8. At the time, the mark was the fourth-longest in the country and ended up being long enough to earn a spot at the National Indoor Championships. This past Sunday, O'Malley won the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) title in the event, posting a mark of 12.02 meters on her sixth and final attempt of the afternoon.

The trip to the national meet marks the first time O'Malley has been selected to participate during the indoor season and the first time making the cut in the triple jump. Last year, O'Malley competed in the long jump at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Bradenton, Florida. She finished 20th in the country in that event.

West Texas A&M's Fatim Affessi enters with the longest effort in the triple jump this season at 13.20 meters.

The championships will be streamed live on
